Overview
By paying tribute to this great thinker through the creation of a beautiful, enduring reminder of what it means to be literate in our society, we will tangibly demonstrate our community’s commitment to an informed and civil society.
A bronze sculpture of Northrop Frye will:
- create a more refreshing, vibrant and visually rich community
- continue to improve literacy rates by giving all members of our community a tangible reminder of what it means to be literate in our society, but to particulaly inspire the more than 10,000 students who participate in the Festival annually
Deliverables:
- National competition to find successful sculptor
- 1 piece of enduring public art (bronze sculpture)
- $25,000 in contributions from individual and/or corporate donors
- National media coverage during unveiling on May 1, 2021
- Provincial media coverage throughout program

Budget Notes: The entire budget for the project is $50,000. Moncton's Mayor George LeBlanc has personally written to the Frye Festival Chair, Dawn Arnold, ensuring that the City of Moncton is committed to helping the Frye Festival secure the remaining $25,000 needed for the project. | |
