Overview

Play is essential to human development. It improves quality of life, reduces health care costs and is an economic generator.
Play unites communities.

We are working together with the City of Sarnia and the Woodstone Park Committee to raise funds for the installation of a new wheelchair accessible playground for Woodstone Park. Presently, the only play equipment at the park is a slide and two swings. An old structure had to be removed because it was so unsafe.

An accessible playground represents the opportunity for kids with disabilities to do what every other child at a playground does: play-barrier and care-free.  With ramps, a special swing, slides with gentle slopes and a soft ground, a new accessible playground means kids get to just be kids, regardless of their abilities.

This playground also means the families from the nearby geared to income complex can gather as a community to watch their kids play, without worrying about cost or transportation.

Community Benefit

A new accessible playground will allow neighbourhood children and adults of all abilities with a place to play. It will also give the residents of the nearby geared to income housing complex a place to gather, socialize and enjoy watching their children play at no cost and without the need to travel.

How will the $100K be used?

$ 65,000 Accessible Play Unit
$ 20,000 Rubberized Protective Surfacing
$ 10,000 Installation and Delivery
$ 5,000 Amenities, i.e. benches, signage, etc.
