Goals
- To provide a safe, supervised and fun environment for youth
- To have a space that enriches the lives of youth in our community
- To provide positive role models that demonstrate healthy lifestyles
- To serve hundreds of youth in the Cornwall/SDG area
Overview
Two years ago, the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG acquired a large run-down historical building. This site was chosen for a new Boys & Girls Club because of its location in the city-centre. Since then volunteers, board members, and community members have worked to get the building restored and up to code. Our new Clubhouse is scheduled to open in early 2011. The space is currently a blank canvas with no funiture or decor. A huge obstacle we need to overcome before we can open is to furnish the section that will be used for the youth drop in center. We will provide fun and exciting activities for teens aged 13 to 18, but first we need furnishings to make them feel welcome, safe and comfortable. We need to make it "A Good Place to Be!"
