Two years ago, the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG acquired a large run-down historical building. This site was chosen for a new Boys & Girls Club because of its location in the city-centre. Since then volunteers, board members, and community members have worked to get the building restored and up to code. Our new Clubhouse is scheduled to open in early 2011. The space is currently a blank canvas with no funiture or decor.  A huge obstacle we need to overcome before we can open is to furnish the section that will be used for the youth drop in center. We will provide fun and exciting activities for teens aged 13 to 18, but first we need furnishings to make them feel welcome, safe and comfortable. We need to make it "A Good Place to Be!"

 

 

Hundreds of youth will be able to have a safe and inviting environment to spend their time. There are not many places in our community for youth to congregate and truly be youth. This is a space where they can express themselves and develop lasting meaningful relationships with their peers and mentors. Through positive role models and educated staff, we hope to empower our youth in Cornwall/SDG. Our Clubhouse is located within a high risk area where there is a lack of services for youth. We are proactive, not reactive, to positive change and want the best for our community. Our Clubhouse will be a "A Good Place To Be!"
