Overview

Brain Day brings together university students and matches them to classrooms across Toronto elementary schools, where these students give a half school day presentation that teaches basic neuroscience and brain injury prevention.  In 2009, we were able to coordinate 93 classroom presentations and reached over 3,000 elementary students.  This past March, we were thrilled to be able to extend the program to 165 elementary classrooms with the help of 200 university volunteers, spreading brain and spinal cord injury prevention to over 4,500 elementary school students.  With more resources, Brain Day will able to improve on its professional quality and efficiency of the program to reach even more students across the greater Toronto area.  Our goal is to increase the number of students reached by our message by 20% (in 2011).  We would also like to purchase additional materials to polish the program (T-shirts for volunteers, pencils and erasers for students, etc...).

How will the $5K be used?
