Build a Natural Playground for the Children of Horseshoe ValleyHorseshoe Valley Fundraisers

Horseshoe Valley is a small community comprised of 2000 residents. Traditionally, this has been mostly retirees and weekend cottagers; however, over the past decade, the neighborhood composition has changed as young families move in. Our new ‘eco-playground’ park would minimize environmental impact while promoting safe, responsible use of the outdoors, introducing young children to a natural play environment.The project is volunteer based. Features of the playground encourage children to develop skills to aid them with future outdoor rec pursuits.The playground equipment includes slides, a climbing apparatus, swings, and a variety of other elements that challenge children’s motor skills not found in other area parks.The natural playground elements will require large boulders and rocks from which to make natural climbing elements.There will also be logs immersed in the ground to act as ‘stepping pads’ and logs laid on their side to use as balancing challenges.
