Goals
- Help fund early intervention services for children at risk.
Overview
The Infant Development Program is a prevention and early intervention service for infants and young children from birth to age five who have a physical and/or developmental disability or are at risk of a developmental delay. The program provides Occupational, speech-language, and physio therapies for children at risk. This will help to decrease a long waiting list and help purchase new equipment for various therapies.
Community Benefit
With 1 in 110 children being diagnosed with developmental delays, early intervention is key to helping them get the best start possible. Early intervention has proven that a child at risk has a greater opportunity to significantly maximize thier independence, can move into general education by kindergarten, and will require less services in the future. Many symptoms are present by 12 months of age, therefore ensuring that the Infant Development Program is able to help as many children as possible is imperitive.
