 About 20 years ago, Ontario Pioneer Camp realized that many children were extremely limited in their camping options by physical or intellectual challenges. This awareness brought about the Inclusion program at Pioneer Camp.

Each summer more than 130 children with special needs come to Ontario Pioneer Camp as part of a fully integrated camping experience. We understand that children living with these challenges are like everyone else. They have the capacity to love, to have fun, and to make friends.

 Our objective is to see children with challenges having as regular a camping experience as possible. We provide a 1:1 staff to camper ratio and integrate their unique needs into our regular program in whatever way is necessary to maximize their experience.

 This unique program at Ontario Pioneer Camp costs approximately $170,000 each summer to run. The Pepsi Refresh grant will help 20 children with special needs be fully included in the Pioneer Camp experience.
