Overview
Implementation of a Spay/Neuter Pilot Project will lead to humane control over the population of companion animals in First Nation communities. This in turn will lead to a reduction in the numbers of companion animals being destroyed and will lead to a healthier living population of animals. The pilot project will be implemented with support from veterinary clinics.
Providing families in First Nation communities with a Responsible Pet Ownership Education Program is as vitally important. Topics will include the importance of spaying/neutering, providing food, water, and shelter; and the effects of animal abuse.
The continuance of our Remove and Rehome Program will remove animals from the communities that are no longer wanted where they will then be adopted out to forever families.
Our goal is to provide a long-term change in these communities.
